The Real Barriers Women Face in Outdoor Photography

What’s stopping photographers from exploring the great outdoors? For most, the top obstacle is straightforward: not having someone to go with.

But for women, the challenges cut deeper. Safety concerns—specifically fear of human confrontation—rank as the second most significant barrier overall, with 41.6% of respondents from a survey conducted by Women Photographers Canada identified it as an issue. Digging into the data reveals something shocking: 95% of those who fear confrontation are women.

In fact, for women, safety concerns aren’t just a barrier—they’re the biggest barrier. Not having someone to go with comes in second.

And here’s the real kicker: these two barriers are inextricably linked. If a woman feels unsafe and has no one to accompany her, the likelihood of her venturing out with her camera plummets.

This stark reality highlights an urgent need to create safer, more inclusive spaces where women can embrace their passion for outdoor photography without fear. It’s time to break these barriers and open up the world of photography to everyone

Empowering Women Behind the Lens

Discovering Landscape Photography

Do you have a love for the great outdoors and a passion for getting outside ?

If so then you can be a landscape photographer.

Photography gets us closer to nature and the more you get out into nature and take in the surrounding landscape the more you connect with it and more pleasure you gain from it.

Im not a seascape Photographer

That’s right ! i don’t regard myself as a photographer who can take good seascapes but photography is all about learning and until you get out there with a camera, You have no idea of the genre of Photography you’ll enjoy.

Photography is all about practise and learning on repeat and as long as you enjoy getting out & about with a camera, you’re already doing both.
